  1. As you are looking for writing contest info, I thought you might like to know about some excellent contests I discovered at Narrative Magazine. Narrative is an online literary magazine based out of San Francisco and their three annual contests have outstanding cash prizes. Here are some links:

•Narrative Spring Story Contest: http://narrativemagazine.com/node/56338 ; first prize is $3,250.
•First Annual Poetry Contest (open now until July 18, 2009): http://narrativemagazine.com/node/53403 ; first prize is $1,500.
•Narrative Prize for the best short story, novel excerpt, poem, or work of literary nonfiction published by a new or emerging writer in Narrative: http://narrativemagazine.com/node/421; first prize is $4,000!
The quality of writing at Narrative is top-drawer and it is a plum location for MFA students to submit their work for consideration.
