Barthelme Prize Deadline Approaching

…the deadline to submit for the 2009 Gulf Coast Barthelme Prize for Short Prose is Monday, August 31.

The judge for this year’s Barthelme Prize is award-winning author Mary Robison.

Mary Robison is the author of four story collections, including Tell Me: Thirty Stories, and four novels including Why Did I Ever and the recently-relesaed 1 DOA, 1 on the Way. Guidelines: Submit up to 3 previously unpublished prose poems, short stories, or micro-essays, each no more than 500 words in length. Your name and address Should appear on the cover letter only. All entries will be considered for publication, though only one will receive our $500 prize. The reading fee for each entry is $15.

Each entrant will receive a free one-year subscription to Gulf Coast.
Multiple entries are permitted, but free subscriptions are limited to one per entrant.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed; please inform us if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
Checks can be made payable to Gulf Coast.
