aaw2To celebrate Black History Month, everybody is invited to COME LISTEN to a variety of poetry and prose by Black writers from across the Americas and/or SIGN UP TO READ!

WHAT: African-American Read-In
WHEN: Thursday, February 19th from 10-2
WHERE: SUB Atrium, bottom floor

We’ll be reading from inspiring authors such as W.E.B. DuBois, Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, Audre Lorde, Alice Walker, Langston Hughes, and Frederick Douglass.

Readers can choose their favorite passage or poem from these authors or bring their own African-American authored excerpt to read. We encourage folks to read whatever moves or inspires them!

Reading spots will last about 15 minutes or less.


To sign up to read, please email Leah Sneider (sneider –at– unm dot edu) with:




1. Your name
2. The half hour time slot (buffer time) in which you are
able to read for about 15 minutes or less
3. The text you wish to read from
