November 6, 2008

Date: Saturday, November 8, 2008
Time: 6:30pm – 9:00pm
Location: Sumner & Dene Gallery, 517 Central NW Albuquerque, NM

Open Mic plus Featured Reader Christian Drake.

Christian Drake has been writing poetry most of his life, and has been the backbone of Slam teams at Hampshire College, in Washington DC and Berkeley, CA since 2004. While living in Oakland, he ran a weekly poetry workshop for two years, and hosted/worked backstage at the Berkeley Poetry Slam and the infamous Tourette’s Without Regrets variety show. He moved to Burque in August, and we’re stoked as hell to present him:

And the guard described for Hamid
the distant homeland of a woman’s laughter.
In a place where hearts are contraband,
the guard unbuttoned his brownshirted heart;
his fist dilated into a lotus for Hamid’s nose.

Be there at 6:30pm if you want to sign up to read.
